Lexus of Birmingham is an annual sponsor of the Regions Tradition Golf Tournament, which took place this past weekend and was once again a triumph for the local community. Greystone Golf and Country Club Plays Host to Senior Major, Won This Year by Ángel Cabrera
Regions Tradition is a major on the senior tour – the PGA Tour Champions. For the past 15 years, our Lexus dealership in Birmingham has sponsored this premier golf event. This year's tournament took place from May 15 – 18 and was hosted at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham – not far from our store, known as the leading Alabama Lexus Dealer and 27-time Elite of Lexus winner.
Elite senior golfers took the course, with Argentina's Ángel Cabrera being crowned the winner following his final-round 8-under 64. Cabrera shot 20-under par for the weekend to capture his first Champions major.
Golf Tourney Cars Provided by Lexus of Birmingham
Regions Tradition is sponsored in part by Lexus of Birmingham. Lexus supplied all senior golfers with Lexus vehicles to drive around Birmingham for the week of the tourney. Bigger Than Golf – Raising Money for 4 Charities, Including Children's of Alabama Pediatric Center
The annual golf tournament raises money for four charities, the biggest beneficiary of which is Children's of Alabama. The premier pediatric medical center in the region provides specialized medical care for ill and injured children. More than golf, Regions Tradition prides itself on giving back, just as our Lexus dealership does for the local community. Since 2011, the golf event has raised over $5.5 million for local charities.
Additional charities include Folds of Honor, First Tee Birmingham, and The Mike Slive Foundation. Based on birdie pledges and number of birdies made by PGA Tour Champions players during the tournament, Birdies for Charity is another contribution element and a way people could chip in for an area charity.
Regions Pro-Ams Also a Blast for Our Staff & Celebrities
Multiple Pro-Ams took place earlier in the week. Buz, the GM at Lexus of Birmingham, once again played in the Regions Tradition Pro-Am earlier in the week, teeing off with PGA Tour Champions professionals. Several icons were in attendance for the Drummond Company Celebrity Pro-Am. Notable celebrities included Charles Barkley, Nick Saban, Kalen DeBoer, Bo Jackson, Greg Sankey, Daryl Johnston, and many more.
